Denise Phillips is a Prue Leith trained chef who during the 1990s ran a successful catering company and in 2000 moved into cookery writing. Initially she wrote for a variety of magazines such as Ms London, Cosmopolitan and Vegetarian Society. She now has weekly cookery columns for the secular and the Jewish press both here and in the US, and is the resident food expert for Jewish News.
Her first book, Modern
Jewish Cooking with Style, was published in 2000, and another, The Book of
Jewish Cooking, in 2003. Her most recent one, Jewish Mama’s Kitchen,
was published in September 2005.
