Laoise works for the Jewish Music Institute, developing projects such as Nu? Musik! – encouraging young musicians to look at Jewish music for inspiration, and developing live events such as Simcha on the Square, Klez in the City and KlezFest in the Park. Laoise is also working on an ongoing project “The Musical Dimension in Jewish Life” to bring music back to the community and to raise awareness about the wealth of Jewish music and culture.

Laoise has a background in Environmental Science with a doctorate from Queen’s University, but nowadays she spends all her time with music. She plays fiddle, mandolin and sings with GhettoPlotz, a house music / Klezmer fusion band. She also sings with Jazz quartet “As time goes by” performing great songs written by Jews for Birthdays, Weddings, Barmitzvahs and corporate events.
