Liberal Judaism
with Rabbi Pete Tobias
(during Shalom Drivetime)

Four times a week, the Liberal Judaism Programme will provide 15 minutes of a uniquely Liberal perspective on a variety of Jewish issues, including the origins of the Torah, changes to the liturgy, mixed faith marriage and same-sex commitment ceremonies to name but a few. Why is it called the Liberal Judaism Hour if it’s only 15 minutes long? Because like Liberal Judaism itself, it cuts out all the bits that are theologically unacceptable, out-of-date elements that don’t have any relevance to modern life – and that makes it fifteen minutes.

The Liberal Judaism Programme will be broadcast as part of Daniel Taylor’s drivetime programme, from around 6.40 pm Monday to Thursday. It will be presented by Rabbi Pete Tobias of The Liberal Synagogue Elstree (who features regularly as a presenter on BBC Radio 2’s ‘Wake up to Wogan’ and Good Morning Sunday) assisted by a team which includes Rabbi Neil Janes (Finchley Progressive Synagogue), David Pelham, Jon Fiber and Jonathan Levene as well as a range of guests and interviewees.

In its fifteen minute slot, The Liberal Judaism Programme promises to stimulate and challenge, never shying away from the issues that confront Judaism in the twenty-first century. Listeners are encouraged to e-mail their comments to rabbipete@shalomradio.co.uk and can also find out more about Liberal Judaism at www.liberaljudaism.org.uk.
