Mondays to Thursdays

Believed to be the best (and only) Jewish sports show on radio anywhere in the known universe, the Route 1 Sports Show is packed with guests, reports, quizzes and fun.

Presented by Mike Peters and Jem Silverstone, the show made its debut in 2004 with a glittering guest list that included David Pleat, David Bernstein, Bobby Fisher, Natalie Neri and Tex Benedict.

This time around, the line-up is even more exciting. With several names still to be confirmed, the line-up looks like this:

n Monday 30th October
Gregg Sulkin and Paul Weiland, star and director respectively of the forthcoming feature film, Sixty Six are in the studio.
Plus Andrew Sherwood’s round-up of the weekend’s AJY and Maccabi League action, and the first contestants battle it out in our new phone-in quiz, ‘Who Wants To Deal or Not Deal With The Weakest Millionaire’, with a prize fund for the winner of up to £75million.

n Tuesday 31st October
Rising athletics star Lara Nyman will be in the studio to talk about her remarkable achievements.

n Wednesday 1st November
We’ll be interviewing Commonwealth Games steeplechaser, Jo Ankier, who’ll be telling us about her hopes and ambitions.

n Thursday 2nd November
W
e welcome to the studio Simon Corney and Simon Blitz, directors of Oldham Athletic FC, who‘ll be giving us the inside track on running a multi-million pound football club. Plus Colin Mirzoeff’s ‘Letter from Israel’.

n Monday 6th November
We get up close and personal with former Spurs and Liverpool star Ronny Rosenthal. Plus a round-up of the weekend’s AJY and Maccabi League action.

n Tuesday 7th November
Southgate’s table tennis supremo, Gordon Greenfield tells us how to tell a ping from a pong.

n Wednesday 8th November
The studio welcomes the current Jewish Sportsperson of the Year, in the hunky form of rugby star Aaron Liffchak.
And Stuart Lustigman tells us why the veterans are the bright young stars of Maccabi League football.

n Thursday 9th November
A friendly chat with MSFL Chairman, David Wolff, and ‘Letter from Israel’.

n Monday 13th November
Top sports agent, Jon Smith, will be in the studio to talk about the trials and tribulations of working with professional footballers and their wives! Plus a round-up of the weekend’s AJY and Maccabi League action.

n Tuesday 14th November
GB Table Tennis coach Eli Baraty comes in to tell us how to tell a ping from a pong, joined by protégé Zak Zilesnik and Southgate team manager Gordon Greenfield.  Then Cardiff City and Wales U-21 international Joe Jacobson will be telling us what it’s like to be the first Jewish footballer to play in the big time for 25 years.

n Wednesday 15th November
We’re joined in the studio by IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, Roman Greenberg, straight from his 23rd win in an undefeated career.
And Maccabi GB’s events co-ordinator, Daniel Morris, comes in to talk about his organisation’s work.

n Thursday 16th November
World champion water skier Ben Harris is in the studio talking about his career, plus Colin Mirzoeff’s ‘Letter from Israel’.

n Monday 20th November
Wingate & Finchley manager, Adam Lee, will be in the studio telling us what it’s like in the hot seat, followed by a round-up of the weekend’s AJY and Maccabi League action.

n Tuesday 21st November
Footballer-turned-agent Barry Silkman will be in to tell us which life he prefers.  And Simon Lawrence will be telling about the ups and downs of life at Hendon FC, and bringing us live match reports from their big game at Ramsgate.

n Wednesday 22nd November
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ maestro Len Goodman will be joining us in the studio to tell us why ballroom dancing is a sport, and he’ll be judging the grand final of our sports quiz, ‘Strictly A Question of Who Wants To Deal or Not Deal With The Weakest Millionaire’, with a prize for the winner of up to £100million.

n Thursday 23rd November
Gala farewell show, featuring the best clips from previous shows, and gushing thank you speeches.  Plus Colin Mirzoeff’s final ‘Letter from Israel’.
